The Homeschool Mama’s Daybook #4

Welcome to The Homeschool Mama’s Daybook. I hope that everyone has had a wonderful & blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I am changing things up a bit for The Homeschool Mama’s Daybook posts in 2016. I will only be posting them once month.

Outside My Window

The air is crisp, the sun is shining, and the sky is bright blue. The grass was covered in frost this morning and we had to scrape the car off when we took Hubby to work. Time to get a bottle of homemade de-icer made up!

I am Looking forward to

The arrival of my precious granddaughter, Chloe Temperance.

In the Kitchen

Not much happening in the kitchen today, I don’t really cook on Sunday. We call it a Yo-Yo day {You’re On Your Own}. It’s a day of “grazing” mostly, as we all just munch on whatever we feel like. There are lots of fresh fruits and veggies set out for snacking and lunch meat, pb&j, soup, or bagel bites for lunch and dinner.

Homemaking Plans for next week

This week I am focusing on creating routines. Things have become slightly {ok, maybe slightly more than slightly} disorganized around the house. The disorganization is causing some very unnecessary stress for me, so it is time to change that because we all know that a stressed out mama equals a stressed out home.

I will be working on two  areas this week:

~Creating and sticking to a meal plan. Lately I have been scrambling at the last minute to fix something for dinner which causes some unnecessary tension in the evenings, definitely need to change that!

~A regular laundry schedule. I really need to get the laundry situation under control. The piles are starting to take over!

Homeschooling Plans for next week

We are getting back to lessons tomorrow. We will be “rowing” at least 3 books this month, Warm as Wool by Scott Russell Sanders, Snowflake Bentley by Jacqueline Briggs Martin, & The Rag Coat by Lauren Mills. We will also be doing a mini-unit study about Martin Luther King, Jr using the book Happy Birthday, Martin Luther King by Jean Marzollo.

We Are Going

We are going to start back up with Thursday Throwdown this week. It’s a great deal at the bowling alley on post: 2 hours of bowling(for up to 6 people), a large one-topping pizza, and a pitcher of pop for $25.

I am Creating

I have a new obsession! Traveler’s Notebooks & Bullet Journaling.

Follow Jenny~Faith And Good Works’s board Travelers ~ Bullet Journaling on Pinterest.

I made a pocketed fabric traveler’s notebook last week for my daily planner and journal. I really enjoyed pulling the sewing machine out and making my traveler’s notebook. I will be making a couple more for myself and I am setting up an Etsy shop to sell some.

I am Learning

About Periscope. Have you heard of Periscope yet? It’s a crazy app that let’s you watch live video. It is very popular right now with bloggers and homeschoolers. It’s a great way to share, in real time, your homeschooling journey with others.

I have done two scopes so far. I am terrible at it! I am surprised at how nervous I get. I plan to stick with it though, at least a few more times, hopefully I won’t be as nervous as I get used to it. You can find me on Periscope through my Twitter handle (that’s how you sign up) @faithngoodworks.

Favorite Scripture/Quote

This is my focus scripture for January.

Homeschool Mama's Daybook - Scripture for 2016

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. ~Colossians 3:23-24

On Our Prayer Board

Michaela and Baby Chloe ~ Michaela is in the beginning stages of labor, very uncomfortable, and {im}patiently waiting for the day that she holds her beautiful little girl in her arms.

Well, that’s it for this months Homeschool Mama’s Daybook!
