Yesterday we took a field trip to the Kentucky 9/11 Memorial at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery. Before heading to the Memorial we watched this BrainPOP movie to learn a little about the events that took place on September 11, 2001.
The featured beam is from the destruction and rubble of the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
The beam represents the Resilience, Strength, and Patriotism of a Nation coming together to ensure the continued Freedom of this great Nation.
We met a few of our homeschooling friends from the Fort Knox Field Trip Co-op. During our visit I read aloud this Fact Sheet from the 911 Memorial website. Then we looked at pictures that I printed out of the Memorial that was built in the place where the Twin Towers were.
After handing out a couple coloring pages, worksheets, & copywork for everyone to take home, we ventured down the hill to walk the Memorial Walk to see the POW/MIA Monuments.
Although the weather was a little grey and drizzly, our walk was heartfelt and peaceful along the blacktop path.
