Discovering nature can happen just about anywhere and is a fun, educational activity for all ages. The theme for June in the Nature Book Club is Nature Hike & Discovery. This month we are joining in while discovering nature in the garden.

Our bookshelf is full of some wonderful books about gardening for kids. Our favorite book so far is Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt by Kate Messner. It is an excellent book choice for the “discovery” theme in the Nature Book Club this month as it tells about all of the “nature” that lives in a garden. It’s not just vegetables you know!
We have been busy pulling weeds, digging in the dirt, planting fruits and vegetables, and discovering all of what nature has to offer in our garden. To add a little more hands-on learning fun to our nature discoveries in the garden, I created this scavenger hunt for times when we aren’t pulling weeds and tending to the fruits & vegetables.
Scavenger hunts are a great hands-on activity to encourage young gardeners to explore and use their observation skills in the garden. With simple visuals and checkboxes, even non-readers can enjoy this fun, educational activity.

Our summer homeschooling is going to be full of new learning adventures while we are discovering nature in our garden.
